This page is the best of historys famous ghost photos and a brief explanation of thier origins. The only thing I can state as a true fact is that everyone of these famous old pictures has been examined by many "experts" over the years and not one of the photos has been proven to be a fake. Enjoy.

The Brown Lady, said to be Dorothy Townsend of Raynham Hall in Norfolk England. Suspected of infedelity, it was said that her husband locked her in Raynham Hall until her death.  She is still reported sighting by many people today, always in her brown dress. This photo was taken by Capt. Provand in 1936. I think it's a beautiful photo.

This is a photo taken in 1959, by Maybel Chinnery, at the cemetary where she was visiting her mothers grave. She took a picture of her husband who was alone in the car, and was shocked to see the figure in the back seat, Maybel says it is clearly her mother. I think it's time for a new car Maybel, 'cause this one be creepy as all get out!

lord_ghost_lg.jpg

This photograph was taken in 1891, by Sybell Corbet, in Cheshire England. It is thought to be the ghost of  Lord Combermere who had just been killed by a horse drawn carriage. He seems to be sitting in his chair, you can even see the fingers of his hand. These old photos were taken by opening the shutter and exposing the film for a period of time, but, Sybell always claimed there was no one else in the house at the time of this photo as all were attending Lord Combermeres funeral. Experts of today say this is no double exposure.

This is a very often seen photo taken by members of the Ghost Research Society. They say this was only a cemetary photo and the girl sitting on the gravestone was not there. Frankly, it looks too good to be real, but, the thing that gives it credit (to me) is the fact that this society is the most well known and respected group of ghost researchers known. So why would they take a chance on tarnishing thier very good reputation with a fake? No, I have to believe it is just what it seems to be, a very clear picture of a ghost.

Newby Church Monk
This has to be one of the most creepy ghost photos I have seen. It was taken by Reverand Kenneth Lord in 1963. He was alone in the church at Newby, North Yorkshire. He took a photograph of the altar for a local magazine. When it was developed a haunting hooded figure was clearly visible. This picture has been examined by a British Government Home Office laboratory and has stood up to all computer analysis. Not once have I heard anyone mention the right hand of the figure. If thats his right hand, then why is the thumb in the wrong place? It looks like two figures to me, one black and one white.
